Our story began with the vision and passion of Jim and Karen Frisinger. Jim had fallen in love. There was something about the winemaking process, the combination of art and science, which kept him coming back for more. So after earning his masters in Viticulture and Oenology from U.C. Davis, Jim and Karen purchased a vacant 20-acre parcel of land in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley in 1981. With hard work and determination, they harvested their first vintage in 1985, allowing them to turn the land into a vineyard estate and family home.
The family produced several vintages of Frisinger chardonnay from the estate’s vineyard in the 1980’s. At this point, Jim turned his focus to enhancing his career at Beringer where he was a viticulturist at the time. Since then, the premium grapes Jim grew at that property have been sold to renowned wineries including Chateau Montelana, Duckhorn and, of course, Beringer.
However, the vision of the family winery was put on hold.
Today, Jim and Karen’s son, Karl Frisinger and his wife Rachel, take great pride in reviving the Frisinger Family winery business. They’ve created a boutique winery that makes premium estate grown wine, and the wine press that appears on their label was on the land in 1981 when their family first purchased the property. It is a representation of the tradition they so greatly value.
Paying homage to the rich land and culture of Napa Valley, visitors are invited to enjoy tasty and memorable experiences with their loved ones. Because family is the foundation of all that we do, we want to welcome you to ours.

Our Chardonnay is produced with grapes grown on our family’s Oak Knoll estate in the heart of the Napa Valley and consists of a proprietary blend of clones 76 and 809. It is barrel fermented and aged sur lees for over 18 months in once and twice used French oak barrels. The Frisinger Family 2017 Reserve Chardonnay has a beautiful golden, hay yellow appearance, with aromas of pineapple, ground cherry, crème brulee, hazelnut, and brioche. The palate will pick up bright, delicious notes of golden apple and pear, followed by citrus notes of lemon curd and caracara orange that offer the perfect amount of acidity.
Our Cabernet Sauvignon is from the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley and is aged in new French Oak for 24 months. The Frisinger Family 2017 Cabernet has concentrated flavors of black cherry, marionberry, and prune, with subtle hints of baking spice, hoisin, and graphite. The nose is loaded with black and blue fruit and a delicate amount of pine and cloves.
Our Malbec comes from a single vineyard in the Eastern hillside of Napa Valley and was aged in French Oak barrels for 20 months. The Frisinger Family 2017 Malbec is a fruit forward, juicy Malbec showing dark fruits such as plums and brandied cherries and floral violet notes. The appearance of the 2017 vintage is a stunning deep ruby with purple hues. The aromas of black cherries and cranberries mingle with prunes dates, and tarragon.
After an overwhelming positive response of our inaugural release of the 2017 Rosé, we are excited to share our third installment with the release of the 2019 Rosé. Only 100 cases were produced from Grenache and Syrah grapes and aged in neutral oak for 4 months. Aromatics of strawberry and peach will jump onto your pallet for a bright, refreshing, and crisp wine. Request your wines today, as they will sell out just as fast as it will disappear by the pool, patio and backyard barbecues!
Frisinger Family Vineyard offers visits by appointment only. Due to our modest production and intimate setting, we ask that you please call or email us to schedule your appointment. We look forward to seeing you in the near future.
